Superman (2025)

I personally think this is the best Superman so far. It avoids all of the weirdness that is generally present in most films of the franchise while at the same time feeling bright and positive. James Gunn's sense of humor is solid and shines through in almost every segment of the film. There's a deep love of the lore of Superman as a comic character, and you can see it in the way that Gunn brings in so many wonderful characters that have not had the attention they deserve.

Overall the acting is on point with David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Both Amy Adams and Henry Cavill were such good performers that it wouldn't be fair to call this an upgrade, but the new cast is definitely on par and every other part of the film feels so much better around them that it's hard not to feel like they did better in their roles. The special effects are solid. We're just at a point though where most movies that are this effects heavy feel like live action cartoons, but artistically the visuals manage to look sharp while maintaining the tone of each scene, adding to the full experience.

When I heard the rock anthem update to the original John Williams score, my heart stopped. The guitar solo rendition of that classic theme is emotional and resonates with the original orchestral version. The music of John Williams is just that good and what is done here transforms for a new generation while keeping the heart and soul of what made it so moving to begin with.

The whole film is made with such a sense of joy and fun that it is contagious. Definitely worth watching.

Final Verdict:It's pretty fun. You should watch it.
